Chateau de Montebello Golf Club

In Montebello, Quebec, there’s good news for thirsty golfers. Two local couples—Alain Larivière and Patricia Pesant, and Luc and Linda Proulx—have opened a new brewpub called Les Brasseurs de Montebello. You can choose from 19 Quebec craft beers on tap, including two brewed by the pub: a hoppy blonde ale called Le Fantôme d’Ézilda and a refreshing honey blonde called La Reine du Mont Vinoy that is just the ticket on a hot summer day. The Ontario Bridge to Michigan Now Shines Brighter

Windsor, Ontario – Niagara Falls now has a serious contender in Windsor for anyone who wants to golf and gamble. Our brief layover began at the Caesar’s Windsor.  After leaving our car with the free valet parking, we checked in to an awesome room with 2 queen size beds, wall-to-wall full height windows, and an incredible view overlooking both the Detroit River and the Detroit cosmopolitan skyline. The next morning brought a short 8 minute drive to the course. The Ambassador Club opened in 2005 and was immediately nominated the “Best New Golf Course in Canada” by Golf Digest and OG Magazine.

Four on the Shore … Plus More! Yarmouth, NS Canada by Dave Finn

Yarmouth and the Acadian Shores are located at the southwestern tip of Nova Scotia, stretching north along the world famous Bay of Fundy in Clare County to East Pubnico and the Atlantic Ocean in the south. For centuries the sea has been the mainstay of this economy and continues to influence all aspects of life here including the golf. Blessed with the longest golf season on the Atlantic Coast this region, believe it or not, has one of the best climates in Canada due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. The area is also rich in heritage, culture and community spirit that begs to be explored after a round or two.

Born to be Wild – Cape Breton Island Nova Scotia Canada by Dave Finn

Cape Breton NS – Even if you don’t remember the 60’s***, you’ll probably recognize the riff and some of the lyrics to the song “Born to be Wild” by legendary Canadian rock band, Steppenwolf.  This timeless classic soundtrack was made famous in Peter Fonda’s “Easy Rider” and continues to encourage us in movies trailers, TV shows and advertising to want to hit that open road once more.

Get your motor runnin’…Head out on the highway…Lookin’ for adventure…And whatever comes our way…Born to be wild…

Ontario’s Garden of Eden Norfolk County, Ontario

by Dave Finn

Norfolk County, ON – For years my best buddies and I would pile into a minivan and endure a two hour drive just to play the Pine Valley Golf Club located south of Simcoe on the northern shores of Lake Erie. For those who do not know, Pine Valley has always been one of the first golf courses in Ontario to open each spring. It was certainly worth the drive to be able to play an 18-hole golf course on green grass in late March while the rest of our fellow golf enthusiasts were either heading to the deep-south to get their fix or waiting patiently in shin high snow for their local golf courses to open.

Wine, weather & a world apart – Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada by Dave Finn

It has been thirty years since I last visited Kelowna British Columbia.  My recollection was of a small quaint town of some 60,000 residents, nestled along the shores of the Okanagan Lake, completely surrounded by lush apple, peach and cherries orchards offset by the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Rockies in the distance.  What I do not remember from those days was any mention of golf or a large number of wineries that could be toured. Times have certainly changed since the early 80’s.
